English Conversation Class Ideas

Speaking is one of the most difficult skills in English teaching. Because students can get so easily embarrassed or nervous, conversation exercises need to be mindful of just over numerous other activities. The most important thing to remember when running a course of conversation, is to always make the student feel as comfortable as possible. Give plenty of positive encouragement and not get caught up in correcting minor errors.

Role Play

Perhaps the year's most frequently taught speaking is the role play. This technique is useful in a class because it allows students to practice skills and words that should not normally be used in the classroom or in everyday situations. The idea behind the role play is simply to act. Two other students over to meet and pretend they are in a specific situation, as two tourists try to rent a hotel room, or someone who tries to make a good impression in a job interview .

Class Discussion

Class discussion is also useful when the conversation class teaching, but the trick is to choose a subject engaging. Selecting something that is in the interest of your students is key. Possible topics include: some countries, foods, cultures, laws, health, grammar and many others. Once you've chosen a topic, prepare specific questions about it to initiate and maintain discussion. For example, if your choice of bread. What is the bread? How can you do? Is white or brown better and why? How important is yeast? These types of questions help students reflect on the topic in detail and respond using the specialized vocabulary.
Bridging Gaps

The idea behind this exercise is that students have different information to match a number of categories. For example, categories could be: the films name, occupation, date of birth, hobbies and favorites. Each category contains information on at least five different people, but each student can have one third or one fourth of this information. The student must then ask my colleagues: "Who has a birthday on that date?" Or "What is John's favorite movie?" This encourages conversation in a small low pressure environment where students do not talk to the class.

Questionnaires

Questionnaires are just like they sound. They usually contain a list of questions centered around a different category such as sports or recreation. Students must then go around the room and ask questions to a number of his peers and then note the answers. It is a good exercise to combine speaking, listening and writing. When finished, each student can choose one interviewee and read his answers to the class

Belajar Bahasa Inggris seperti Native Speaker

Anda Berada di Tempat yang Tepat untuk Belajar Bahasa Inggris Seperti Native Speaker!

Saudara,

Apakah Anda merasa malu ketika Anda berbicara Bahasa Inggris? Apakah pronunciation Anda buruk? Apakah Anda membuat banyak kesalahan tata bahasa ketika berbicara Bahasa Inggris?
Apakah orang-orang mengalami kesulitan memahami Bahasa Inggris anda? Apakah mereka tampak bingung ketika anda berbicara?

mengapa 6 tahun? Coba anda ingat-ingat, sejak kapan anda mulai belajar Bahasa Inggris, mulai kelas 1 SMP kan…?
It’s more than enough to be an expert!

  1. Belajar aturan-aturan Grammar akan “membunuh” kemampuan Speaking anda. Maka jangan mempelajari Grammar jika anda ingin fasih dan lancar berbahasa Inggris.
  2. Listen first!

TOEFL PREPARATION

Terdapat dua jenis tes TOEFL, yaitu 1) Paper and Pencil Based TOEFL; dan 2) Computer Based TOEFL.

Saat ini biaya Paper and Pencil Based TOEFL maupun Computer Based TOEFL adalah sebesar US $ 110, sedangkan TOEFL ITP biayanya relatif lebih murah yaitu sebesar US $ 25.
Based TOEFL, Computer Based TOEFL, TOEFL ITP).

Apakah ada perbedaan dalam sistim penilaian Paper and Pencil Based TOEFL, Computer Based TOEFL, TOEFL ITP dan TOEFL Prediction Test?

· Tingkat Dasar (Elementary) : 310 s.d. 420
· Tingkat Menengah Bawah (Low Intermediate) : 420 s.d. 480
· Tingkat Menengah Atas (High Intermediate) : 480 s.d. 520
· Tingkat Mahir (Advanced) : 525 s.d 677

Bali Interesting Place in Denpasar city

Bali doesn’t extend beyond the tourist leaflet: idyllic tropical beaches, lush green forest and happy islanders who work and play in childlike innocence. This vision of paradise has been turned into a commodity for the tens of thousands of western tourists who flood into Bali’s Kuta Beach, Tanah Lot, Kintamani, Ubud Village, Besakih Temple, Bedugul etc.

In actual fact the tourist trade is only a peripheral thing; awy from the commercial traps of the southern beaches you can still find Bali’s soul, towards the mountain where it has always been. It is there you will find rice paddies tripping down hillsides like giant steps, holy mountains reaching up through the clouds and dense tropical jungle. And it is there you’ll discover the extraordinary resilience of the Balinese people and their culture.

Without doubt, listening is one of the more difficult skills to improve when you are learning English. When you listen, you rely on the quality and clarity of the speaker.
When I moved from Canada to Australia, I had trouble understanding approximately 5-10% of most conversations due to slang and the accent...and I'm a native English speaker!
Here are a few tips to help you develop your English listening skills:
1. Ask the speaker to speak more slowly. The person speaking wants you to understand, so they are happy to slow down - but you need to ask them.
2. Ask people to repeat what they have said if you didn't understand. Again, the speaker is trying to have a conversation and will do what they can to help you.
3. Watch English television programs and movies aimed for children and teenagers. They use a level of English that is good for learners. Most countries offer cable television from other cultures.
4. Turn on English subtitles when you watch a DVD in English.
5. Watch the news in English - the pictures and videos help you understand the content.
6. Join an English conversation group in your city. www.meetup.com is a good place to look for groups learning English. If one does not exist already - you can start it!
7. Visit VOA News to read and listen to current news.
8. Go to a lyric website such as Lyrics.com to see the words for the English songs you listen to. Sometimes the English is very casual and hard to follow - so choose carefully!
9. Practice, practice, practice - don't be shy.
Good luck!

Next, review your understanding of these four basic reading skills. If you teach an English course, you can use these quick review texts in class, as well as this lesson plan focusing on identifying reading skills.
Skimming Skimming is used to quickly gather the most important information, or 'gist'. Run your eyes over the text, noting important information. Use skimming to quickly get up to speed on a current business situation. It's not essential to understand each word when skimming.
Examples of Skimming:
  • The Newspaper (quickly to get the general news of the day)
  • Magazines (quickly to discover which articles you would like to read in more detail)
  • Business and Travel Brochures (quickly to get informed)
Scanning
Scanning is used to find a particular piece of information. Run your eyes over the text looking for the specific piece of information you need. Use scanning on schedules, meeting plans, etc. in order to find the specific details you require. If you see words or phrases that you don't understand, don't worry when scanning.
